The overarching need to build smart, conscientious, and adaptable leaders has never been more acute. We
face serious challenges at every level of society, from the household all the way up to the global
community. Consequently, our shared future depends on competent, resolute, and ethical leadership across
spectrum. Effective leadership is therefore required throughout communities to respond to the significant
multi-faceted challenges of today’s world. An independent survey recently carried out by Graceville
digital hub on identifying public service delivery organizations resulted in clear identification (by over 90% of respondents) of an increasing need for Basic ICT training, retraining and skills refreshing
programmes for youth and new employees as the topmost need for optimal performance and outcomes.
The survey further reinforces the broad consensus that our youth and employees would be more effective
in their new positions in a shorter time-frame through a brief but intensive ICT development training
focusing on Basic ICT skills. I am proud to acknowledge that the Graceville Digital hub have been able to
reach out to more than 100 youth and adults of the Mowe community in developing there cognitive ICT
skills.
